Dr Tharindu Uyanage is a General Practitioner and Senior Emergency Physician, holding Fellowships with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) and the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM). He serves as a Senior Medical Educator for ACRRM and is also an examiner for both the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and ACRRM.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Uyanage has a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and emergency cardiology. He has designed and developed a POCUS training program for ACRRM and an emergency cardiology teaching program for the Clinical Scope educational platform, reflecting his commitment to high-quality, practical medical education.
Dr Uyanage completed his primary medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2008 and commenced his emergency medicine training at the National University of Singapore, Singapore General Hospital, and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He relocated to Australia in 2012.
His professional experience includes working at Werribee Mercy Hospital, Alfred Health, University Hospital Geelong, St John of God Geelong, and Epworth Hospital Geelong, as well as practising as a General Practitioner in Barham and Ocean Grove. Dr Uyanage brings over 15 years of experience as an Emergency Physician, 7 years of experience as a General Practitioner, and more than 10 years of experience as a medical educator.
